Mr P, one half of the defunct Nigerian music duo P-Square, has dropped a bombshell: the widely celebrated 2021 reunion with his twin brother Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, was not authentic. In a series of Instagram posts and videos, Peter Okoye alleged that the reunion was staged for public consumption, insisting he never entertained the idea of reviving the group.
According to Mr P, his only intention was to reconcile with his brother and their family, not to resurrect P-Square as a musical project. He accused Rudeboy of repeatedly seizing opportunities to damage his reputation through interviews and public remarks, and vowed to reveal the untold story behind the brothers' long-running feud.
Fresh Fallout After Language Remarks
The latest revelation comes just hours after Mr P apologised for controversial statements about Nigerian languages. The apology ignited a fresh public dispute, with Mr P accusing Rudeboy of capitalising on the backlash to tarnish his image. Since declaring he was done being "Mr. Nice Guy," the singer has promised to expose the hidden details of the family rift.
In his lengthy Instagram post, accompanied by several videos, Mr P expressed fatigue from staying silent while his brother continued to criticise him publicly. He challenged anyone to produce evidence of him pulling down his brother or any family member. "Today is the first time I'm speaking because I typically prefer to type. What you guys just saw is different days, different outfits, coming to pull me down to the media," he wrote.
He also shared clips wherein Rudeboy claimed he had produced and written 99 percent of P-Square's catalogue, and another where Rudeboy said he no longer wanted to carry the bulk of the workload. Mr P responded: "I am going to speak my truth today. I am sure most of you have seen this. That is typical of him, always throwing shade at me with every given opportunity. I take that in good faith, but as I said, at this point, I am done being Mr. Nice Guy. It's aura for aura."
Reunion That Never Was?
Mr P then walked his followers through the sequence of events leading to the November 17, 2021 reconciliation. He recounted that while returning from Atlanta on that day, 35 minutes before landing in Lagos, his caretaker sent a message: "Oga, abeg forgive oga Paul, he don come apologise to mama." The "mama" in question was his wife, Lola.
Repeated calls to Rudeboy went unanswered. Upon arriving home, he found both his team and Paul's team waiting. Paul's manager, Shehu, reportedly advised him to move past the conflict. When his wife returned from work, she was in tears. She revealed that Paul had shown up at their house at 4 a.m. that day, frightening her, and she had called everyone to gather. Paul then clung to her leg, saying, "Lola, I'm tired, pls I'm tired."
Lola encouraged Mr P to visit Paul's house and embrace him, as he had made the first move. The moment Mr P walked to Paul was captured and went viral. Their elder brother, Jude Okoye, later joined after hearing about the reconciliation.
I Never Wanted P-Square Back
According to Mr P, the next day brought the first discussion about reviving P-Square—an idea he immediately rejected. "Bro, hope I'm not part of this P-Square. I told him we are only back as brothers. For P-Square, I am done for now, maybe in the future," he recalled. Rudeboy insisted he was still angry, but Mr P denied it, noting they were brothers before the music.
Mr P added that Jude later insisted they make a reunion video to ask fans for financial support. He opposed it because there was no P-Square, yet they eventually recorded it, introducing themselves as Mr P and Rudeboy. He clarified that he didn't host a reunion party; instead, Paul's compound featured speakers, a DJ, and balloons at the poolside.

In his apology for the language comments, Mr P said his words were misunderstood, but quickly turned to blame Rudeboy for using the situation against him.
