Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has publicly called out his twin brother, Paul Okoye, alleging that their much-publicized 2021 P-Square reunion was not genuine. In a lengthy video statement, Peter said he was tired of being portrayed as the troublesome brother and decided to “give the truth a voice.”
Peter Claims Reunion Was Not About Music
According to Peter, the reunion happened only after Paul allegedly reached out to his wife, Lola, and apologized. He explained that he later visited Paul's house, where they hugged, leading to a viral video that made fans believe the duo had reunited as a group. However, Peter claimed that soon after, Paul told him he wanted to focus on “peace” rather than P-Square, making it clear they were not actually back together as a music group.
“I only wanted us to reconcile as brothers, not necessarily to return to making music together,” Peter said in the video. He accused Paul of repeatedly throwing jabs at him and said he was now ready to give him the same energy.
Peter Challenges Allegations, Highlights Songwriting Contributions
Peter pushed back against claims that he had tried to bring down Paul, challenging anyone to produce a video where he had attacked his twin brother, their brother Jude, or any member of Paul's family. He further claimed that he wrote and produced about 99 percent of P-Square's songs, accusing Paul of making allegations against him despite his significant contributions to the group's catalogue.
“I am no longer interested in hiding my side of the story,” Peter stated, promising to reveal more details about the long-running dispute between the brothers.
Background of the Feud
The Okoye twins, who formed the iconic group P-Square in the early 2000s, have experienced a volatile relationship over the years. After a highly publicized split in 2017, they briefly reunited in 2021, performing at a few events and posting reconciliatory videos. However, tensions have now resurfaced, with Peter insisting the reunion was not authentic. Fans of the group are left wondering whether the brothers will ever truly mend their relationship.
