Nollywood fans expressed concern after spotting a visible growth near veteran actor Adewale Elesho's right eye during a prayer gathering organised for his ailing colleague Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo. The event, held to show solidarity with Ogogo, who is battling stage four cancer, drew attention to Elesho's health instead, with many urging him to consult a doctor.
Prayer Session for Ogogo Draws Nollywood Stars
Nollywood practitioners turned out in numbers to support Ogogo, whose daughter had previously appealed to the public for assistance as his condition worsened. The prayer session was organised by colleagues seeking divine intervention for the veteran actor's recovery. During the event, footage from the gathering circulated online, and observers noticed a noticeable growth near Elesho's right eye.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their worry, with some recalling that a similar mark was visible on Elesho's face during his work on actress Bimbo Ademoye's film set. Several noted that the growth appeared considerably smaller at that time and had since increased noticeably in size.
Fans Urge Medical Check-Up for Elesho
While some acknowledged the swelling could be a harmless cyst, others were less reassured. Social media users called on those close to Elesho to encourage a medical check-up. One user, @ogunbanjoolusola, wrote: "Good to see Baba Elesho, but I think he should seek medical advice on the wound on the side of his face. Melanoma? I am not insinuating anything, but it will be worth checking."
Another user, @mo.1_rayyoor_, commented: "Possibly! That might be skin cancer staring at them. Worth checking out I agree." @vee_topher added: "Yes u are right, if u watch sibi bimbo ademoye's movie the injury was very little now is very big." @ogunbanjoolusola followed up: "I saw that movie. That was where I first noticed. I hope someone around him is as concerned. Baba is a great actor and very funny!"
Political Controversy Surrounding Ogogo's Health
In related news, Legit.ng reported that Ogogo's health situation sparked political reactions on social media. Some supporters of the Labour Party, popularly referred to as Obidients, linked his reported cancer diagnosis to his public support for the All Progressives Congress (APC). The controversy drew a sharp response from an aide to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who condemned what he described as political mockery of a sick citizen.
The aide argued that Ogogo's political affiliation should not be a reason for insensitive comments about his health. Drawing a comparison with the late veteran actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, who supported Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election, the aide noted that Mr Ibu also had to travel to Lagos for medical treatment for a condition that could not be adequately managed by hospitals in the South-East.
Despite the concerns raised online, the mood at the prayer session remained one of faith and solidarity. Attendees prayed for Ogogo's recovery and thanked one another for good health, with fans joining in from afar and wishing both actors long life and strength.
