The Nigerian entertainment industry united in solemn tribute on Wednesday night as actors, musicians, media personalities, and close friends honoured the late Nollywood star Alexx Ekubo at a moving Service of Songs. The event took place at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos.
Mourners in White Celebrate Ekubo's Life
Dressed in white, friends, associates, and fans filled the venue to celebrate the life and legacy of the beloved actor, who passed away on May 11 after a battle with cancer. The service marked the beginning of his burial rites, ahead of a wake-keep in Abia State on June 17 and his interment on June 18.
Gospel Ministers Lead Worship
The evening was defined by heartfelt worship, prayers, and reflections. Leading gospel ministers including Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo, Peterson Okopi, Ebuka Songs, and Kaestrings delivered powerful musical ministrations. Renowned cleric Pastor Jerry Eze was also present.
IK Ogbonna's Emotional Tribute
One of the most emotional moments of the night came when actor IK Ogbonna, Ekubo's longtime friend, took the stage to deliver a touching tribute. Fighting back tears, he described Ekubo as a loyal friend whose kindness and concern for others remained evident even during his final days.

Deep Impact on Colleagues
The atmosphere throughout the event reflected the deep impact Ekubo had on colleagues and fans alike. Actress Shaffy Bello, overwhelmed by emotion, declined media interactions at the venue. The evening also recorded an unfortunate incident as actress Bam Bam reportedly lost her phone during the gathering.
