Afrobeats sensation Shoday is set to make his Nollywood acting debut in Funke Akindele's upcoming movie, 'The Four: No One Fights Alone', scheduled for a December 11, 2026 release. The announcement, made by Pulse Nigeria on August 10, 2026, confirms that the singer will join an ensemble cast that includes some of Nollywood's most celebrated names.
Shoday Joins Star-Studded Cast
The movie features a lineup of veteran actors and rising stars, including Funke Akindele herself, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan, and Wunmi Toriola. Shoday is not the only musician in the film; award-winning vocalist Waje will also appear as a musician, continuing the trend of cross-industry collaborations between music and film.
A December Release Tradition
'The Four' continues Akindele's successful pattern of releasing blockbuster movies during the December holiday season, a strategy that has earned her the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood films of all time. Her previous hits, including 'Omo Ghetto: The Saga', 'Battle on Buka Street', 'A Tribe Called Judah', 'Everybody Loves Jenifa', and 'Behind The Scenes', have all been released in December and have shattered box office records.
Bridging Music and Film
The inclusion of Shoday and Waje in 'The Four' highlights the growing synergy between Nigeria's music and movie industries. Musicians appearing in Nollywood films is a well-established trend, with artists like Falz having starred in Akindele's 'Your Excellency' (2019) and 'Everybody Loves Jenifa' (2024). Conversely, Akindele has also appeared in music videos, including Wizkid's 'Pakurumo' and FOLA's recent hit 'EKO'.
What to Expect
As the release date approaches, fans are eager to see how Shoday transitions from music to acting. With a proven track record of box office success, Akindele aims to extend her reign with 'The Four', promising a blend of drama, star power, and musical talent that is sure to captivate audiences.
