Veteran Actor Taiwo Ogogo Hassan Dies of Cancer

Veteran Nollywood actor and screenwriter Taiwo “Ogogo” Hassan has died after battling stage-four cancer. His daughter, Kira, announced the death during an Instagram Live session on Sunday, and fellow actor Saidi Balogun confirmed it in an Instagram post.

Cancer Diagnosis and Family Appeal

Premium Times earlier reported that the actor’s daughters, Kira and Haleemah, disclosed that doctors had diagnosed their father with cancer three weeks before his death. The family appealed to Nigerians to help explore possible treatment options for the veteran actor.

Kira, who was visibly distressed and crying during the live session, said she wanted to return home after learning of her father’s death. “Help me call my sister, my family, my daddy is dead. I want to go home. I can’t believe this. I want to go and see my daddy before he gets buried,” she said in the video.

Colleague’s Tribute

Balogun described Ogogo’s death as painful and prayed that Almighty Allah would guide the actor to paradise. “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. You can rest now, my brother Taiwo Hassan Ogogo. May Almighty Allah guide you through Aljannah. This is truly painful,” he wrote.

The actor’s death marks a significant loss to the Nigerian film industry, where he was known for his roles in Yoruba-language productions.
