US Mission Launches 'Made in America, Loved in Nigeria' Skit Contest for Creators
US Invites Nigerian Youth to Skit Contest on American Brands

The United States Mission in Nigeria has officially rolled out a fresh nationwide competition, calling on the country's vibrant youth and digital creators to participate. Dubbed the 'Made in America, Loved in Nigeria' contest, this initiative invites Nigerians to produce and share short skits that illustrate the role of American innovations in their everyday lives.

Contest Details and Participation Guidelines

Open exclusively to Nigerian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years, the competition requires participants to craft an original, vertical video lasting no more than 90 seconds. The core theme is to showcase how American products, services, or ideas influence homes, businesses, or communities across Nigeria.

All entries must be posted publicly on major social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook. Crucially, videos must tag the official handle @USinNigeria and include the designated hashtags: #MadeInAmericaLovedInNigeria and #TradeThatTransforms. The Mission has set clear ground rules to ensure fairness:

  • Only one submission is allowed per person.
  • Use of copyrighted music, video clips, or images is strictly forbidden.
  • Videos must not contain any watermarks and should be entirely original or use approved Creative Commons materials.
  • Organisations, U.S. citizens, and employees of the U.S. Mission are not eligible to enter.

After uploading their video, contestants must complete their entry by submitting the video link through the official contest portal at madeinamericalovedinnigeria.com. The submission window is open from December 1 until December 8, 2025.

Judging, Prizes, and Strategic Goals

A panel of judges appointed by the U.S. Mission will evaluate all valid entries based on several key criteria:

  • Creativity and originality
  • Relevance to the theme
  • Strength of storytelling
  • Technical quality
  • Potential for audience engagement

The organisers have stated they expect submissions to be humorous, creative, or informative. Winners are scheduled to be announced on December 12, 2025, via the Mission's social media channels. The grand prize is a significant boost for any aspiring content creator: a professional 4K camera bundle. This includes a Sony A7 IV camera, a 24–70mm lens, a 64GB memory card, and an extra battery.

Beyond the competition, this initiative has deeper objectives. The U.S. Mission stated it aims to tap into Nigeria's booming creator economy and strengthen the cultural and economic bonds between the two nations. The United States is a major trade partner for Nigeria, with annual two-way commerce worth billions of dollars spanning sectors like technology, agriculture, and entertainment.

Important Requirements for Contestants

To qualify, participants must adhere to strict content and administrative rules. Each entrant must sign and attach an eligibility and release form. This document confirms the participant's age, authorship of the content, and the consent of all individuals featured in the video.

The guidelines warn that failure to upload this signed form or any violation of the contest rules—including the use of explicit, abusive, or inflammatory content—will lead to immediate disqualification. Finalists will be required to complete additional publicity forms and provide a short biography alongside a statement describing their video.

This campaign reflects Washington's ongoing engagement with Nigeria's dynamic digital sector, building on previous support for youth entrepreneurship, innovation training, and STEM education programmes across the country.
