FG and RTI Launch Medical Technologies to Boost Healthcare Delivery

The Regional Trade Institute (RTI), in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment and the Nigeria–Central Europe Chamber of Commerce (NCECC), has unveiled a comprehensive range of medical technologies designed to enhance healthcare delivery in Nigeria and throughout Africa. This initiative was formally presented at the institute's headquarters in Abuja, marking a significant step in international cooperation.

High-Level Engagement Platform for Economic Ties

Prof. Jan Zahorik, the Director for Africa-Europe Partnership at RTI, emphasized that this program serves as a high-level engagement platform for businesses and key stakeholders. Its primary objective is to strengthen economic relations between Nigeria and Central Europe. Zahorik detailed that the initiative aims to spotlight investment opportunities within the health sector, encompassing advanced technologies, innovative products, and cutting-edge solutions.

Furthermore, it establishes an international framework for strategic dialogue, business networking, and export facilitation. The engagement is meticulously structured to foster mutually beneficial partnerships by connecting Nigerian stakeholders with industry leaders, innovators, and investors from Central Europe. This strategic positioning aims to establish Nigeria as a pivotal gateway for investments into the broader African continent.

Call for Enhanced Cooperation and Expansion

Prof. Zahorik urged policymakers, business leaders, development partners, and the diplomatic community to intensify bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Such efforts are crucial for driving sustainable economic growth and unlocking new avenues for trade and investment. "We are actively seeking reliable partners in Austria, Germany, Poland, and Slovakia," he stated.

He added that successful collaboration in Nigeria could serve as a model for expansion into Francophone African markets, including Cameroon and the Benin Republic, thereby amplifying the initiative's regional impact.

Nigeria as a Prime Destination for Technology Export

Prof. Martin Melichar, Vice Dean for International Cooperation at the University of West Bohemia, highlighted Nigeria's attractiveness as a destination for technology exports due to its vast and expanding market. He noted that initial collaborations have already been established in the health and education sectors, with ambitious plans to introduce innovations in science and renewable energy to Nigeria and other African nations.

Leveraging Partnerships for Healthcare Impact

Richard Eze, Assistant to the Vice President of NCECC (Nigeria), affirmed that the organization will utilize existing partnerships to deploy medical services and products effectively. He reported that since some of these technologies were introduced at the University of Lagos two years ago, there has been a significant and positive impact on healthcare delivery within the institution, demonstrating the tangible benefits of such collaborations.
