Both streams require a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5 in English or French across all four skills.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has made no announcement about a further extension, so the August 31 date stands unless new ministerial action is taken.
Francophone Student Pilot Opens New Intake
A new annual intake under the Francophone Minority Communities Student Pilot begins on August 26, 2026, following Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab's announcement of its extension on July 6 in Winnipeg. IRCC will accept up to 2,970 qualifying study permit applications between August 26, 2026, and August 25, 2027.
