The United Arab Emirates has specified four eligibility conditions that Humanitarian Pioneers must meet to qualify for the country's Golden Residency programme, a 10-year renewable stay without a local sponsor.
Who Qualifies as a Humanitarian Pioneer?
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) administers the Golden Residency. Applicants must satisfy at least one of three professional or financial criteria, plus a fourth universal requirement.
The first condition applies to individuals who have served as a member or outstanding employee of an international or regional organisation for a minimum of five years. The second condition mirrors this for those who have worked for a public-benefit association or non-profit organisation for five years or more.
Financial Contribution and Educational Requirement
The third condition targets financial supporters. Individuals who have donated at least AED 2,000,000 (or the equivalent in another currency) to humanitarian causes are eligible under this route. Regardless of which of the three conditions an applicant meets, all Humanitarian Pioneer applicants must also hold a university degree.
Holders of the Golden Residency are permitted to live, work, study, and invest in the UAE alongside their families. The ten-year term renews automatically, providing long-term stability compared to shorter visa arrangements.

The programme is part of the UAE's broader strategy to attract skilled, impactful, and financially capable individuals who contribute to the country's development.
