Erinomo Assumes Role as FETHI Acting Chief Medical Director

In a significant leadership transition, Dr. Olagoke Erinomo has officially commenced his duties as the Acting Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti (FETHI). This change follows the completion of the two-term tenure of the immediate past CMD, Professor Adekunle Ajayi, which ended on December 31, 2025.

A Seamless Handover and New Beginnings

According to an official statement from the hospital released on Friday, Dr. Erinomo, who previously served as the Chairman of the institution's Medical Advisory Committee, formally took over the reins on January 1, 2026. In his initial address, the new acting head of the tertiary health facility pledged an unwavering commitment to the continued delivery of quality healthcare services to the public.

Marking the new year, Dr. Erinomo encouraged the hospital's staff to embrace 2026 with resilience and renewed hope. "We thank God for bringing us this far, as we trust Him to make the year a good one for every member of staff and our beloved Hospital," he stated. He extended gratitude on behalf of the Hospital's Board and Management, acknowledging the staff's trust, dedication, and sacrifice which he said has built FETHI's reputation as a caring healthcare family.

Outgoing CMD Commends Staff, Incoming Leader Hails Predecessor

The handover ceremony, which took place on December 31, 2025, was marked by mutual respect and commendation. Professor Ajayi, while formally transferring leadership, expressed profound gratitude to the hospital staff for their steadfast support throughout his eight-year tenure, which he described as fulfilling and rewarding.

"Today marks the official transition of leadership of this hospital to you as the acting CMD," Prof. Ajayi said. "I extend my best wishes for your success as you embark on a new chapter in the hospital’s leadership. May you achieve great success and be celebrated." He also wished everyone a Happy New Year.

In his response, the newly appointed Acting CMD, Dr. Erinomo, congratulated Professor Ajayi on a tenure he noted was marked by numerous breakthroughs, accomplishments, and exemplary performance. "I appreciate your leadership and wish you well in your future endeavours," Erinomo remarked.

Looking Ahead: Awaiting a Substantive Appointment

While Dr. Olagoke Erinomo steers the affairs of the hospital in an acting capacity, it is expected that the Federal Government will announce a substantive CMD for FETHI in due course. This period will be crucial for maintaining stability and continuing the hospital's mission of providing essential medical services to the community.

The leadership change at FETHI represents a pivotal moment for one of Ekiti State's key healthcare institutions, with the new administration poised to build on past achievements and navigate future challenges in Nigeria's health sector.
