FG Commissions 100-Bed Hospital in Zaria for Healthcare

The Federal Government has commissioned a 100-bed Renewed Hope Specialist Hospital in Dumbin Rauga, Dutsen Abba Ward, Zaria, Kaduna State, marking a significant step in strengthening healthcare delivery in Nigeria. The project, executed by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs), aims to expand access to quality healthcare and advance Sustainable Development Goal 3 on Good Health and Wellbeing.

Modern Facility to Serve Communities

The state-of-the-art hospital is designed to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services to residents of Kaduna State and neighboring communities. It is expected to ease pressure on existing health facilities in the region. During the commissioning ceremony, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, described the hospital as a strategic intervention to address critical healthcare gaps, especially among vulnerable populations.

“Healthcare is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Every mother deserves safe delivery, and every child deserves a healthy start to life. No matter how remote our communities may be, access to quality healthcare must not be beyond their reach,” she said.

Orelope-Adefulire noted that the intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes people-centered development and inclusive access to essential services.

Government and Stakeholder Support

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, who facilitated the project, said the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to translating policies into tangible benefits for citizens, particularly in underserved communities. “This facility represents a major investment in the health and wellbeing of our people. It will significantly reduce pressure on existing healthcare institutions and ensure access to affordable and quality medical services for our constituents,” he said.

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, commended the Federal Government and OSSAP-SDGs for the intervention, describing the project as timely and impactful. He assured that his administration would ensure the effective utilization and sustainability of the facility. “This hospital will greatly strengthen our healthcare system in Kaduna State. It complements our efforts to expand access to quality healthcare and improve the wellbeing of our people,” the governor said.

Impact on Healthcare Delivery

Stakeholders at the event stressed the importance of healthcare as a fundamental human right and highlighted the need for improved maternal and child healthcare services, as well as equitable access to medical care across communities. The Renewed Hope Specialist Hospital is expected to improve healthcare delivery, reduce the burden on existing facilities, and contribute significantly to better health indices in Kaduna State and the wider region. The commissioning underscores Nigeria’s commitment to building a resilient healthcare system through sustained investment and strategic partnerships.
