A young Nigerian lady diagnosed with chronic kidney disease has shared an emotional video on TikTok, detailing the sad changes she has experienced since her diagnosis. The 25-year-old, who has been battling the illness since she turned 23, appealed to netizens for assistance in securing a kidney transplant.
Heartfelt Plea for Help
In her video posted on TikTok under the handle @ijaybabyee, the young woman spoke openly about the personal toll the disease has taken on her life. She described how the condition has robbed her of her good health, memory, weight, and beauty. The footage quickly drew attention as she made a public plea for support with obtaining a transplant.
She explained that she had been contending with the condition since age 23 and is now 25. In her post, she asked members of the public for assistance, expressing vulnerability and hope that others might help her cause.
Visible Changes and Weight Loss
The lady described the visible and personal changes that have occurred since her diagnosis. She recalled a time when she was free of the illness and contrasted it with her current state. According to her, the disease has deprived her of several aspects of her wellbeing, including physical health, memory, body mass, and appearance. She emphasized that the loss has been extensive and has altered her sense of self.
She noted that at the time of the video, she weighed 68 kilograms and observed that her veins had become barely visible beneath her skin. She said she could not fully convey the extent of what the illness has taken from her, but accepted that this is her reality. She repeated that the condition reduced her weight to such a degree that her veins became indistinct.
Prayer as the Only Recourse
The young lady concluded her message by stating that, given her circumstances, prayer remains the only action she can take for herself. She presented this as her final recourse and did not indicate any further steps she could pursue independently.
In her words: "Here is a video of what I used to look like when I was without kidney disease. Kidney disease has taken so much from me. It took away my good health. It took away my memory. It took away my weight. It took away my beauty. It took so much from me. This is what I look like now. Currently I weigh 68 kilograms. With this weight, my veins are almost invisible. I cannot even start to mention how much it has taken away from me, but it is what it is. It took so much weight that my veins became invisible. The only thing I can do for myself now is to pray for myself. That's all."
