Former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has issued a powerful charge to Christian leaders across Nigeria, urging them to lead with unwavering conviction, integrity, and moral courage in all spheres of public and professional life. This clarion call was made during a significant press briefing organized by the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI), Nigeria, held at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday, January 29.
Emphasis on Ethical Leadership in Times of Decline
Speaking at the event, Senator Anyim emphasized that Christian participation in leadership must consistently reflect core values of integrity and moral courage, especially within a society currently grappling with widespread ethical decline. He stressed that engagements in business, governance, and public life should be deeply rooted in personal conviction, rather than being swayed by mere convenience or external public pressure.
FGBMFI Unveils Plans for 2026 National Convention
The press briefing served a dual purpose, also marking a major milestone in the preparations for the FGBMFI's 2026 Lagos National Convention. During the event, the official logo, theme, and venue for the upcoming convention were formally unveiled to the public and stakeholders.
Barrister Isaac Okpanachi, the National President of FGBMFI Nigeria, took the stage to announce that the 2026 National Convention will be held at the historic National Theatre in Lagos. This venue holds special significance as it is where the fellowship first began its operations in Nigeria. The convention theme was revealed as "Pressing Towards the Mark", drawn from Philippians 3:14, symbolizing focus, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to divine calling.
Detailed Planning and Digital Engagement Strategies
Mr. Sunny Beyioku, the Southwest 3 District Coordinator and Planning Committee Chairman, provided assurances regarding the steady progress of nationwide preparations. He confirmed that all districts of the fellowship are actively involved in the planning process and that concerted efforts are being made to highlight the origins and growth trajectory of FGBMFI within Nigeria.
In his remarks, Beyioku reiterated the fellowship's steadfast commitment to its core mandate of transforming lives and promoting ethical conduct across all spheres of society. He also outlined various activities planned for the convention, including rallies, comprehensive Bible teachings, prison outreach programs, as well as exclusive dinners and luncheons tailored for professionals, politicians, civil servants, and artisans.
Symbolism of the New Logo and Outreach Focus
Explaining the deeper symbolism behind the newly unveiled convention logo, Barrister Okpanachi stated that it represents the fellowship's enduring mission to reach professionals, public servants, and individuals engaged in legitimate vocations across the nation. He expressed profound gratitude to Senator Anyim for his longstanding support of the fellowship and voiced confidence that Nigeria could continue to serve as a exemplary model for integrity in both business and governance.
Strengthening Digital Growth and Youth Involvement
In response to questions from journalists, FGBMFI leaders highlighted the significant impact of previous conventions, noting that sustained outreach programs and publications have substantially expanded the fellowship's visibility nationwide. They further revealed that the organization is intensifying its digital engagement strategies through online meetings, youth-focused content creation, and various media platforms, including Barrister Okpanachi's YouTube channel, LifeLight Help TV.
The event concluded with a joint unveiling ceremony of the convention logo, followed by closing remarks from NEC member, Dr. Jerry Abutu, and a series of prayers.
