The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of assets linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu, including jewellery valued at N4.65 billion, 11 exotic cars worth N4.29 billion, $50,000, and N30 million in cash. The order was granted on Thursday, July 16, following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Court Ruling and Assets Recovered
Justice Jude Onwugbuzie delivered the judgment on the EFCC's application for final forfeiture of the properties. The EFCC announced the development via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, detailing the recovered assets. The jewellery alone is valued at N4,645,170,294.90, while the 11 exotic cars are worth N4,293,000,000. Additionally, $50,000 and N30,000,000 in cash were also forfeited.
Background and Legal Proceedings
The forfeiture order marks the culmination of legal efforts by the EFCC to recover assets allegedly acquired through unlawful means. Aisha Achimugu, a prominent businesswoman, had been under investigation by the anti-graft agency. The court's decision paves the way for the federal government to take possession of the assets. Further details on the case are expected to emerge as the EFCC continues its enforcement actions.
