The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released new details about a joint operation between the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the United States military that resulted in the death of senior ISIS commander Abu-Bilal al-Minuki. What started as a carefully monitored intelligence trail ended in one of the most significant counterterrorism operations in recent months.

According to the DHQ, the operation was the outcome of sustained surveillance, intelligence sharing, and coordinated planning aimed at dismantling a deeply connected extremist network operating across Nigeria, the Lake Chad Basin, and the wider Sahel region.
