A man has publicly apologised to Nigerians who may have been swayed by his earlier political endorsements of the ruling party, stating that the current realities have compelled him to reconsider his stance.
Background of His Political Views
He explained that although he never considered himself a politician and only engaged minimally in political activities, he had strongly defended and predicted the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu before the 2023 general elections. At that time, many doubted Tinubu's chances, but he remained steadfast in his support.
Realisation and Apology
According to him, some individuals later reminded him that his political analyses influenced their decision to support or vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Initially, he felt no need to respond to these reminders. However, the escalating insecurity, frequent kidnappings, economic hardship, and fear for his children's safety made silence untenable, especially as a father.
He emphasised that supporting any government should never prevent citizens from speaking out against injustice or failure, noting that criticism is a civic duty. He went on to apologise to anyone whose expectations may not have been fulfilled due to his political influence, stressing that Nigeria's current situation demands accountability, improved governance, and better protection for all citizens.
