Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a sensational return to Stamford Bridge, this time as head coach. The 38-year-old Spaniard, currently impressing at Champions League-chasing Como, has been identified as a leading candidate to replace Liam Rosenior, who departed following Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton after just 107 days in charge. Fabregas joins a shortlist that includes Andoni Iraola, Xabi Alonso, and Julian Nagelsmann.
Petit Issues Stark Warning
However, not everyone believes Chelsea is the right move for the former Arsenal and Barcelona star. Speaking to Andy’s Bet Club, ex-France international Emmanuel Petit issued a stark warning. “Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea? No, no, no. If you have to choose between Chelsea and Barcelona, you definitely go to Barcelona, not Chelsea,” Petit said.
Chelsea Called a 'Mess'
Petit elaborated on his concerns, describing the club in harsh terms. “Chelsea is a mess. It’s a mess. It’s a nightmare for managers; it’s kind of a nightmare as well for the players, actually. You will find more serenity even if you face a lot of pressure in Barcelona,” he added.
Fabregas, who played for Chelsea from 2014 to 2019, winning two Premier League titles, has been praised for his work at Como, where he has guided the Italian side into contention for a Champions League spot. Despite his strong ties to the club, Petit’s comments highlight the instability at Chelsea, which has seen multiple managerial changes in recent seasons.
