Former Edo State Governor and Senator Adams Oshiomhole has made strong political remarks concerning governance, security in Anambra State, and the 2027 presidential election. He expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will emerge victorious in the 2027 election while criticizing the political opposition.
Oshiomhole's Confidence in Tinubu's Victory
According to Oshiomhole, governance performance in Anambra State under previous administrations remains a key reference point in political discussions about security and leadership. He also referenced past events in the state involving security-related challenges and interventions by successive governors.
Oshiomhole stated: “Do the research, what were the four first major decisions that Governor Obiano took when he succeeded to be as governor of Anambra State? We saw the visuals where Governor Obiano was bringing down using bulldozer. I think he started it. Using bulldozer to bring out the houses of kidnappers and so-called bakassi boys that turned to, got out of control. And Peter Obi could not fix security in Anambra State. He took the intervention of Governor Obiano who took over from him to begin to destroy the properties of those who he believed have used their cruise for kidnapping. Where the wife kidnapped husband, and husband, kidnapped wife, and asked the children to bring money it got to that level. And Governor Obi, as he there was, I was a governor then. My state was safer. So if Obi couldn’t fix Anambra State, if he couldn’t fix bakasi boys, and bakasi boys got out of control, and he took the intervention of Obiano to now intervene, you think that is the guy who will have the courage? Look at the research they’re talking about. We should do ethnic profiling. Fine. But what he didn’t say, what should we be doing? Everybody knows that things are not perfect. But a statesman must provide answers. Say, this man is driving left. If I get a ticket, I will drive right. That’s a specific choice. So you as a voter will say, okay, I think I like right-hand driving, not left-hand. There has to be specific new tools that they will bring. We haven’t heard. Do the right thing. What is the right thing? So, Tinubu will win. Hands down.”
Call for Concrete Policy Direction
Oshiomhole further maintained that political leadership should be assessed based on clear governance decisions and measurable outcomes. He argued that voters should be guided by concrete policy direction rather than general political statements. He reiterated confidence in the ruling party’s electoral strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
