21 African Nations on Tanzania's 2026 Visa-Free List

Tanzania's Immigration Services Department, operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has published the official list of nationalities exempted from visa requirements for entry into the United Republic of Tanzania in 2026. The list includes countries across Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and the Pacific, as well as several British Overseas Territories.

Only 21 African Countries on the List

Of the dozens of countries granted visa-free access, only 21 are from the African continent, making Tanzania's visa-free policy one of the most selective in Africa. The full list of African nations whose citizens can enter Tanzania without a visa in 2026 is as follows: Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, South Sudan, Swaziland (Eswatini), Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Broader Exemptions Beyond Africa

The visa exemption list extends beyond Africa, covering numerous countries in the Caribbean, Asia-Pacific region, and several British Overseas Territories. The official list is available on the Tanzania Immigration Services Department website. In a related development, Legit.ng reported that Tanzania also released a list of 24 countries excluded from its visa-on-arrival scheme in 2026.
