ACOMORAN Vows to Mobilize Support for Tinubu's 2027 Re-election

The Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Tricycle, Repairer, and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Ondo State chapter, has declared its commitment to rallying support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This announcement was made during a gathering of hundreds of association members at the secretariat of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) in Akure, the state capital.

Economic Reforms and Grassroots Engagement Drive Decision

According to Comrade Akinlolu Olumonrin, the chairman of ACOMORAN in Ondo State, the association's decision is rooted in the ongoing economic and infrastructural reforms implemented by the current administration. Olumonrin emphasized that continuity is essential to sustain these programs and highlighted the significant strides made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in humanitarian work and grassroots connectivity, which facilitated the move to back Tinubu's re-election.

Olumonrin detailed the union's past struggles to gain recognition from the state government, including writing numerous letters and even taking legal action, which yielded no results. He expressed confidence that aligning with the Presidency would provide a more effective pathway to address the union's long-standing concerns, such as price hikes affecting members. Despite these challenges, he advised members to remain hopeful, obey state curfews, prioritize passenger safety, and conduct themselves responsibly to counter negative stereotypes associated with commercial riders.

Strategic Boost for APC and Party Unity

Olumuyiwa Asagunla, the Director General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), described the union's support as a strategic boost for the All Progressives Congress (APC). He attributed this alignment to positive developments in the country, including ongoing infrastructural projects like road dualizations in Ore and Akure, and construction on routes such as Ilesha to Benin and Akure to Ondo. Asagunla noted that good roads reduce vehicle wear, fuel consumption, and travel time, benefiting riders directly.

Asagunla also addressed recent internal wrangling within the APC in Ondo State, affirming that the party has been reorganized following interventions by the national leadership. He praised Minister Tunji-Ojo for attracting opposition members into the party's fold and expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure at least 95% of the votes from Ondo State in 2027.

Voice of the Grassroots and Global Factors

Demola Ijabiyi, an APC chieftain, highlighted that the riders' decision reflects the voice of ordinary citizens and indicates public sentiment in Ondo State. He stated that these individuals, who live among the grassroots, can see and feel the impact of governance. Ijabiyi also addressed concerns over the lingering fuel crisis, attributing the situation to global factors beyond the control of the Nigerian government, and urged patience as improvements are expected.

This endorsement by ACOMORAN underscores a growing trend of grassroots support for Tinubu's administration, with members citing tangible progress and a belief in future improvements as key motivators for their political alignment.
