Adebayo Accuses Tinubu of Sending Thugs to SDP Secretariat

Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general elections, has accused President Bola Tinubu of dispatching thugs to invade his party's secretariat. This accusation comes shortly after Adebayo completed his screening to secure the party's ticket for the 2027 elections.

Allegations of Intimidation

The 2027 presidential hopeful took to social media to share a video showing civilians engaging security personnel at the gate of a building. In the background, a voice alleged that these individuals were invaders sent by the president's administration. Adebayo claimed that President Tinubu orchestrated the action with the support of James Faleke, the lawmaker representing Ikeja federal constituency, and Joash Amupitan, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Reactions from Nigerians

The claim has sparked reactions on social media. Odey Peter criticized Adebayo and other opposition leaders, stating that such allegations only strengthen the APC. Ayo Bello suggested that the SDP is not a threat to Tinubu, while Oris~Monie recounted being teargassed during the incident. Niyi described the allegation as petty, noting that the presence of policemen does not necessarily indicate a plot against Adebayo.
