APC Chieftain Abdulsalami Ginsau Dies in Abuja Hotel Elevator Accident
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Kano State has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of Assistant Organising Secretary Abdulsalami Ginsau. The party chieftain was found deceased after being trapped in a malfunctioning elevator at Chida Hotels in the Utako area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to reports, Ginsau arrived in Abuja one day ahead of the APC convention to facilitate hotel bookings for delegates from Kano State. He was lodged on the third floor of Chida Hotels. In the early hours of Friday, March 27, 2026, Ginsau entered the faulty elevator, which subsequently sank, trapping him inside. The hotel management was reportedly unaware of the incident at the time.
Panic ensued when Ginsau could not be located during the APC convention on Friday. Kano State APC chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa stated that a frantic search was immediately launched. It was only at the Utako Police Division that party officials learned of Ginsau's death.
Discovery and Investigation
A source at the hotel revealed that all delegates who were staying at the establishment departed for the convention without knowledge of Ginsau's whereabouts. The following day, hotel staff began perceiving an offensive odor, prompting a search that led to the discovery of the deceased's remains.
The management of Chida Hotels reported the tragic incident to authorities on Saturday, March 28, 2026. A police source confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation, with an autopsy being conducted as part of the ongoing inquiry. The Utako Police Division is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
