APC Governors Optimistic for 2027 After Successful National Convention
Governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have extended their congratulations to the newly elected members of the party's National Working Committee (NWC), following the eighth National Convention held in Abuja. They assert that the smooth and orderly proceedings of the event signal the party's readiness to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Praise for Leadership and Unity
The governors lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fostering an atmosphere of peace, conviviality, and brotherhood during the convention, which they described as a testament to his exceptional leadership and inclusive governance. They emphasized that the event showcased the APC's internal democracy and unity, setting a high standard for other political parties to follow.
In a statement, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State referred to the elected NWC members as "round pegs in round holes," expressing confidence in their ability to guide the party to greater achievements. He highlighted their extensive experience in party politics and unwavering commitment to the nation, democracy, and the APC.

Governor Alia's Commendation Amid State Factionalism
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, writing on his verified social media account, praised President Tinubu and Prof. Yilwatda for orchestrating a seamless and credible convention. He described the event as a powerful reaffirmation of the APC's unity and shared vision for Nigeria. Alia urged the new leadership to lead with integrity and accountability, strengthening the party's bonds.
This commendation comes against the backdrop of a factionalized APC in Benue State, where the party is divided between loyalists of Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume and those of Governor Alia, leading to parallel state congresses.
Dismissal of Fake Form Price Reports
In related news, the APC has categorically denied a false report circulating in the media regarding the purported prices of expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 general election. The report claimed aspirants for the presidency would pay N200 million, while state assembly candidates would pay N20 million.
Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement clarifying that no decision or announcement has been made on the sale or pricing of forms for the 2027 elections. He labeled the report as "a mere figment of the writer's mischievous imagination" and urged party members, the media, and the public to disregard it entirely.
The APC governors have pledged their full support to the new NWC leadership, calling on all party members to unite and build on the successes of the recent congresses and national convention. They remain confident that the party's demonstrated cohesion and effective governance will translate into electoral triumph in 2027.
