The United States chapter of Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally thrown its weight behind Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji as the party's preferred candidate for the upcoming Osun State governorship election. The diaspora group declared that internal cohesion is the non-negotiable ingredient for the APC to successfully reclaim power in the state.

In a significant statement released on 15 December 2025 and signed by its Chairman, Professor Tai Balofin, the APC USA Chapter framed the August 8, 2026 poll as a battle that will be won through discipline and consensus. The group argued that Osun's political history shows that victory often hinges on a united party front as much as on popular appeal.
The chapter presented Oyebamiji's emergence not just as a candidacy but as a strategic moment for healing. They believe his selection marks a deliberate shift away from the internal fractures that weakened the APC in past election cycles. According to them, his profile represents a careful balance of experience, technocratic skill, and broad acceptability across the party's key blocs.
Commending a Peaceful Process and Broader Stability
The diaspora leaders placed notable emphasis on the conduct of the primary process itself. They commended other aspirants for accepting the outcome in the interest of party supremacy, suggesting that the absence of prolonged disputes will strengthen the APC's campaign machinery in a state known for narrow electoral margins.
The statement also linked the orderly process in Osun to broader national dynamics. It credited the leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fostering a more stable party environment nationwide.
