Bauchi APC Leaders Unite to Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Race
In a significant political development, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State have officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu as their consensus candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This endorsement was made during a high-level meeting held in Bauchi on Tuesday, aimed at strengthening internal party cohesion and strategically positioning the APC for electoral success in the state.
Key Figures and Unanimous Support
The meeting was led by Prof. Ali Pate, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, and brought together a formidable array of party stalwarts. Notable attendees included Senator Shehu Buba, former governors Isa Yuguda and Mohammad Abdullahi Abubakar, and Bala Wunti, a retired official of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited. The gathering also featured key governorship aspirants, elders, and grassroots supporters from across Bauchi State.
During the proceedings, Prof. Ali Pate moved the motion to endorse President Tinubu, which was promptly seconded by former governor Mohammad Abdullahi Abubakar. The motion received unanimous approval from all stakeholders present, signaling a unified front within the party. Pate emphasized that this unity extends from aspirants and former governors to senators, House of Representatives members, and local leaders, all committed to mobilizing support for Tinubu.
Pledge for One Million Votes and Governorship Strategy
In a bold declaration, the APC leaders resolved to work towards securing one million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 elections, ensuring his victory. This pledge underscores their dedication to grassroots mobilization and electoral dominance in Bauchi State. Additionally, the stakeholders discussed plans to select a well-deserving candidate for the governorship seat next year, further solidifying the party's strategic preparations.
Isa Yuguda, who serves as Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative for the North-East region, urged party members and residents to unite in support of the APC at all levels. His call for cohesion was echoed by Alhaji Adamu Fanta, representing the Bala Wunti Movement, who advocated for renewed unity within the party to foster stability, growth, and success.
Broader Political Context and ADC Dynamics
Meanwhile, in a related political maneuver, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the APC, engaged in lobbying efforts targeting Governor Bala Mohammed. Accompanied by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Nentawe held a closed-door meeting with Mohammed, who had previously announced intentions to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This meeting occurred just 24 hours after the ADC national leadership attempted to woo Mohammed, with the PDP Governors' Forum chairman suggesting that a coalition with ADC might offer a more viable opposition. Both Mohammed and Nentawe declined to comment to the press following their discussion. However, Mohammed later confirmed that ADC National Chairman David Mark had indeed approached him and his supporters, highlighting the ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
