Gov Alia's Aide Resigns After Meeting With SGF Akume

Governor Hyacinth Alia's Special Assistant on Youths and Media Mobilization, Atu Terver Joseph, has resigned from his position. In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Benue State Government, Atu expressed appreciation to the administration for the opportunity to serve, describing his time in office as a valuable experience.

“I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to serve under your administration and the confidence reposed in me,” he wrote, wishing the governor continued success in leading Benue State.

Although he did not state his reason for resignation, political observers believe the development may be linked to his recent engagement with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, and unfolding political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

On his official Facebook page, Atu recently described Akume as the “most powerful Benue man alive” after paying a courtesy visit, praising his leadership and influence. The post has further fueled speculation of shifting political alliances, especially amid reported tensions between Governor Alia and Senator Akume.

However, no official confirmation has been given linking the resignation directly to political disagreements or future ambitions.
