Coalition Urges APC Vice Chairman Kekemeke to Run for Ondo South Senate Seat

A diverse coalition comprising community leaders, youth groups, women's organisations, and traditional rulers from the Ondo South Senatorial District has publicly called upon Isaacs Kekemeke, the Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West, to declare his candidacy for the district's senatorial seat. This endorsement was formally announced on Wednesday following the coalition's quarterly meeting held in Okitipupa, the administrative headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area.

Endorsement Based on Leadership and Development Potential

Speaking on behalf of the group, coordinator Raphael Ebiwonjumi explained that the decision to rally behind Kekemeke is rooted in his proven capability to tackle longstanding development issues plaguing the district. Ebiwonjumi highlighted Kekemeke's extensive leadership experience and commendable track record, asserting that he is the ideal candidate to synergise with the ongoing initiatives of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Ondo State.

He emphasised the critical need for competent leaders who have demonstrated effectiveness in public office to seek strategic positions, thereby fostering collaboration with current administrations to propel state development forward. Ebiwonjumi noted that the National Assembly urgently requires brilliant, experienced, and politically mature individuals who can effectively represent their constituents and contribute meaningfully to national progress.

Kekemeke's Unique Qualifications and Vision

The coalition underscored Kekemeke's unique blend of political acumen, private sector expertise, and extensive networks, arguing that this combination would enhance legislative oversight and facilitate the passage of impactful laws. The group further suggested that Kekemeke's potential entry into the Senate would bolster ongoing efforts in Ondo State to modernise governance, improve infrastructural development, and accelerate economic empowerment programmes.

Ebiwonjumi stated, "We need quality leaders who have proved their mettle in their previous public assignments to aspire for strategic public offices, where they could collaborate with Governor Aiyedatiwa to move the state to greater heights. Ondo South has suffered from inadequate representation for too long. We need a senator who listens, acts, and delivers tangible results for all communities. Isaacs Kekemeke has proven through his leadership and community work that he is the right person to represent us at the National Assembly."

Track Record and Alignment with National Agenda

He elaborated on Kekemeke's distinguished career, noting his outstanding performance as Commissioner for Works, Chairman of the National Examinations Council (NECO), state chairman of the Ondo APC, and in his current role as APC Vice Chairman in the South West. Ebiwonjumi praised Kekemeke for possessing a laudable vision and inherent leadership capacity to translate ideas into reality.

The coordinator added, "This is the time we need to consolidate on the framework of the laudable vision of Kekemeke and create synergy with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in the area of digital development, which has become a key driver of innovation and economic growth in our state." This statement reflects the coalition's belief that Kekemeke's candidacy could align local development efforts with national policies, fostering a cohesive approach to progress.
