Political Group Applauds APC for Rejecting Bauchi Governor's Defection

A political pressure group known as the Dream Bauchi Project, in collaboration with Lawyers for the Cause of Bauchi, has publicly praised President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their decision to decline the planned defection of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State to the party. The group expressed its approval during a statement made on Monday, highlighting that this move has been welcomed by the people of Bauchi State.

Support for Senator Shehu Buba Umar

In analyzing the upcoming governorship race in Bauchi State, the group declared its strong support for Senator Shehu Buba Umar, who represents the Bauchi South Senatorial District and has recently announced his intention to contest for the governorship seat. Prof. Musa Kirfi, the Chairman of the Dream Bauchi Project, emphasized that as organizations deeply involved in advocating for better leadership and governance in the state, they are endorsing Senator Umar's aspiration to bring positive change to Bauchi.

Appreciation for APC Leadership

The group extended its gratitude to President Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for listening to the concerns of party members who had opposed Governor Bala Mohammed's potential defection from the outset. They commended the leadership for standing by the truth and justice, which they believe has enhanced the party's popularity in Bauchi State. The group noted that the people of Bauchi are politically mature and will express their appreciation when the time is right, urging the APC to sustain this momentum for assured victory in the upcoming elections.

Call for Focus on State Issues

According to the group, Bauchi State requires a fresh departure from what they describe as the old and narrow political arrangements represented by the Bauchi Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). With the 2027 elections approaching, they argue that it is not in the state's best interest to limit political discourse to just the APC and PDP. Instead, they stress that the leadership should concentrate on addressing the serious issues facing Bauchi, such as governance challenges, rather than expending energy on defection matters. They assert that the people of Bauchi are politically astute and recognize that merely changing political platforms will not provide any significant political advantage.
