APC Support Group Vows 95% Votes for Tinubu in Ondo, Mobilizes Across 203 Wards

A prominent support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), has made a bold commitment to secure an overwhelming 95 percent of Ondo State's votes for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. This ambitious target represents a significant increase from the 68.9 percent of votes the APC garnered in the state during the 2023 election, with the group attributing its confidence to enhanced grassroots engagement and a focus on performance-based voter considerations.

Strategic Meeting in Akure Sets Mobilization Agenda

During a strategic stakeholders' meeting held in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, the group outlined its plans to consolidate support across all 203 wards and polling units. The meeting, which brought together the group's leaders' council, state executives, local government coordinators, ward leaders, and the women's wing, was convened to chart a new course following the conclusion of the party's recent congresses, which had left lingering tensions among APC members in the state.

Olumuyiwa Asagunla, the Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, emphasized that the next phase of their engagement will be entirely centered on intensive mobilization efforts. He urged all stakeholders to set aside internal differences and focus wholeheartedly on mobilizing for Tinubu's re-election bid. "We have set the stage for the next phase, which is mobilisation. We are out to mobilise for the re-election and second term of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu," Asagunla stated.

Performance-Based Support and Grassroots Accountability

Asagunla further explained that the group is also supporting candidates who have positively impacted the lives of the people, whether they are senators, House of Representatives members, or House of Assembly members. He stressed that performance matters, warning that underperforming incumbents risk losing their seats to popular candidates from smaller parties. "If you have not touched the lives of the people, you risk losing your seat. Even smaller parties can win positions if they present popular candidates against underperforming incumbents," he cautioned.

He highlighted the importance of constituency engagement, asking rhetorical questions about how often officials visit their constituencies, respond to calls, empower constituents, and provide infrastructure. Asagunla referenced the Minister of Interior as an example of performance leading to promotion, underscoring the group's commitment to accountability.

Call for Consistency and Unity Among Members

Senator Yele Omogunwa, who leads the group's Leaders Council, urged members to demonstrate consistency in their loyalty and cautioned against divided allegiances. He expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the local government congresses, despite the state congress being settled. "You cannot claim loyalty during the day and align with other groups at night. We need solidarity, transparency, and unwavering commitment at all times," Omogunwa emphasized, calling for bold and consistent support from all members.

Women's Wing Targets High Voter Turnout

Yetunde Adeyanju, a former commissioner for community development and social services in Ondo State who leads the group's women's wing, disclosed that the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has set a clear target for the wing. She revealed that the minister desires to see a minimum of 95 percent of women voters in the state support Tinubu. "His desire is to see that a minimum of 95% of all those staked women vote for Ashiwaju, and that's the reason why we're out again, to kick-start the process. To ensure that no woman in all those states is left untouched," Adeyanju stated, highlighting the comprehensive mobilization efforts planned for the women's demographic.

The Asiwaju Mandate Group's vows and mobilization strategies underscore a determined push to bolster Tinubu's electoral prospects in Ondo State, with a focus on unity, performance, and extensive grassroots outreach as key pillars for achieving their 95 percent vote target in the 2027 presidential election.
