Oyebanji Secures Decisive Victory in Ekiti West
According to INEC, Governor Oyebanji polled 28,258 votes to secure a commanding win in his home local government. His closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), managed only 3,644 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate came a distant third with 674 votes. The result underscores the APC's stronghold in Ekiti West, a key battleground in the election.
Breakdown of Results and Impact
The outcome in Ekiti West is a significant boost for Oyebanji's re-election bid, as it represents a substantial margin of victory. With over 24,000 votes separating him from the PDP candidate, the APC standard-bearer has demonstrated robust grassroots support. The election is being closely watched as a test of the APC's popularity in the state ahead of the final declaration of the overall winner.
INEC officials confirmed that the collation process across other local government areas is ongoing, with results expected to be announced in the coming hours. The commission has urged all parties to maintain peace and adhere to electoral guidelines as the process continues.
