The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will resume for its third and final phase on Monday, May 11, 2026. This phase will run until July 10, 2026.
INEC Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, in a statement on Tuesday, explained that the exercise was earlier suspended on April 17, 2026, to allow the commission to clean up the voter register following its publication for claims and objections by registrants.
Eligible Nigerians Urged to Register
The commission urged eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during earlier phases, to take advantage of the final window to do so. It also advised already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct their biodata to visit its online portal or any of its state and local government offices nationwide.
Display of Voters' Register
INEC disclosed that the voters’ register would be displayed for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026, in line with statutory provisions. It noted that the exercise would give citizens the opportunity to scrutinise the register and help ensure its accuracy and credibility.
“Similarly, registered voters who wish to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct their biodata, are advised to access the Commission’s dedicated online portal at cvr.inecnigeria.org or visit INEC State and Local Government Area offices nationwide. In continuation of the process, the Commission will display the Register of Voters for claims and objections from Thursday, 23rd July to Wednesday, 29th July 2026. This statutory exercise provides an important opportunity for citizens to scrutinise the register and assist the Commission in ensuring its accuracy, completeness and credibility”, the commission said.
The commission assured Nigerians that all necessary arrangements had been concluded for a smooth exercise, while appealing to eligible citizens to participate and contribute to strengthening the country’s electoral process.
