2027: Jibrin Rejoins APC, Pledges Kiru/Bebeji for Tinubu
Jibrin returns to APC, vows to deliver for Tinubu

In a significant political realignment, Dr. Abdulmumin Jibrin, the member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, has formally returned to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This move comes just two months after his expulsion from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

A Grand Homecoming in Kofa

Addressing a massive rally of hundreds of supporters in his hometown of Kofa on Monday, Jibrin declared his decision to rejoin the APC was a deliberate one, aimed at steering clear of past political errors. He made a bold promise to his constituents, vowing to mobilize his loyalists out of the NNPP and secure an overwhelming victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.

Earlier that day, the lawmaker demonstrated his commitment by convening a gathering of about 2,000 Islamic clerics from his constituency. The clerics offered special prayers for President Tinubu, as well as for peace and development in Kiru/Bebeji, Kano State, and Nigeria at large.

From Expulsion to a New Political Chapter

Jibrin's return ends months of speculation regarding his renewed ties with the APC and his close relationship with President Tinubu. This is despite the formidable political influence of his former mentor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Previously, Jibrin, who served as spokesperson for the NNPP's 2023 presidential candidate, had been at the forefront of efforts to facilitate Kwankwaso's own return to the APC. He even met with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa to disclose his commitment to this cause. However, this initiative faced resistance from some APC stakeholders in Kano who were opposed to the political reunion.

These actions ultimately led to disciplinary measures from the NNPP, which expelled him for alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of membership dues. Jibrin accepted the expulsion, stating his intention to pursue his political aspirations on a different platform, which he has now publicly revealed.

Solidarity and Social Media Declaration

Shortly after his address to supporters, the former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation took to his verified social media handle. He shared a video clip showing jubilant supporters celebrating his return to the APC and declaring their intention to vote for President Tinubu’s second-term bid.

In a accompanying post, Jibrin wrote, "Today, in a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano. The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office."
