Kwara 2027: Over 2,000 APC Youths Rally Behind Araba for Governor

In a significant show of political support, no fewer than 2,000 youths from Kwara State gathered on Friday at the Arca Santa event centre in Ilorin, vocally endorsing Engr. Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba, for the 2027 governorship race. The event, organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) youth coalition under the banner of Kwara Youth for Good Governance (KYFGG), drew participants from all 16 local government areas of the state, with attendees arriving as early as 8:00 AM for the scheduled 10:00 AM start.

Youth Coalition Expresses Confidence in Araba's Leadership

The convener of the group, Salman Idris, emphasized that their endorsement was based on a careful and rational assessment rather than mere sentiment. He described Sanni as a candidate whose proven track record aligns perfectly with the aspirations of a younger, more politically aware demographic in Kwara. "We are no longer passive observers in the political process," Idris declared, highlighting a generational shift towards active engagement in governance and leadership selection.

Idris further elaborated that he was deeply impressed by Sanni's background and achievements in business and enterprise development, which he identified as a major strength. This is particularly relevant at a time when youth unemployment poses a critical challenge in the state, making economic revitalization a top priority for the coalition.

Beyond Economics: Araba's Humanitarian Outreach

The youths also pointed to Araba's humanitarian efforts as a reflection of his inclusive leadership style. They argued that such qualities are essential for shaping the next phase of governance in Kwara, ensuring that development initiatives benefit all segments of society. The coalition believes that Sanni's approach can build on the developmental strides initiated by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, fostering continuity and progress.

Call for Transparent APC Selection Process

In their closing remarks, the youth coalition issued a strong call for a transparent and consultative process within the APC. They urged party leaders to prioritize merit, capacity, and broad-based acceptance when selecting the party's flagbearer for the 2027 elections. This appeal underscores their commitment to ensuring that the best candidate emerges to lead Kwara forward, free from partisan biases or backroom deals.

The rally not only showcased Araba's growing popularity among the youth but also signaled a broader trend of increased political activism among younger Nigerians. As the 2027 elections approach, such grassroots movements could play a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape of Kwara State and beyond.
