Kwara Clerics Lead Interfaith Prayers for Peaceful 2027 Elections, Endorse Tinubu and BOB

As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osi, Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, organized an inter-religious prayer session on Friday to seek divine intervention for a peaceful electoral process. The event, driven by the growing quest for the Government House in the next political dispensation, brought together Muslim and Christian leaders to offer supplications for harmony and security.

Religious Leaders Unite for Peace and Security

The prayers were led by Alhaji Saadudeen Ajisefinni, the chief Imam of Osi and chairman of the League of Imams and Ulamas in the local government, alongside Pastor Kenneth Adegoke, the area chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). In succession, the clerics conducted rituals aimed at ensuring a smooth and violence-free election exercise in Kwara State. Beyond electoral peace, they also prayed for an end to prevalent security challenges, specifically addressing banditry and other criminal activities plaguing the region. The clerics urged God to empower political office holders to provide good governance as they prepare for various positions.

Endorsements for Tinubu and Bolarinwa's Ambitions

During the prayer session, the clerics offered special prayers for the political aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seeking his successful re-election for a second term, and for Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB), who is vying for the Kwara State governorship in 2027. This endorsement was echoed by the APC Progressive Caucus in Moro local government, which had earlier on Wednesday declared its support for both Tinubu and BOB. The event in Ekiti local government was attended by eight past chairmen of the local council, APC stakeholders, elders, and supporters, all of whom used the occasion to formally back Bolarinwa's governorship bid and Tinubu's re-election ambition.

Stakeholders Voice Support and Commendations

Dr. Bolaji Afolabi, the convener of the programme, highlighted President Tinubu's leadership successes since assuming office and praised Hon. Bolarinwa as the most suitable candidate for governor based on his experience and political performance records. Chief Omogbenle Adeyemi, an APC stakeholder and aspirant for the House of Representatives seat for Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin/Irepodun federal constituency, commended Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq's administration for its impactful developmental activities. Adeyemi expressed confidence that Governor AbdulRazaq would assist the party in producing Bolarinwa as governor in 2027, drawing parallels to how Bolarinwa supported AbdulRazaq's rise when he was party chairman in 2019.

Emphasis on Prayer and Good Governance

Hon. Yinka Dallas, a former chairman of the local government, emphasized the essential role of prayers in enthroning good governance in Kwara State. He stated, "We have seen the way and we don't want to deviate from it. It's prayer before anything and prayer after all things. That's why we've endorsed, declared and backed it up with prayers for Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa to be the next governor of the state and for the re-election of President Tinubu." Dallas called for increased commitment and dedication from political leaders, noting that leadership transcends mere assumption of office and must focus on delivering impactful governance. He added that in these crucial times, Kwara State needs a committed leader like BOB to succeed Governor AbdulRazaq, who has performed commendably.

The interfaith prayer event underscores the blending of spiritual appeals with political endorsements in Kwara State, as stakeholders rally behind key figures ahead of the 2027 elections while advocating for peace and security in the region.
