NAFT.27 Urges President Tinubu to Appoint Ganduje as 2027 Campaign Director-General
The National Agenda for Tinubu 2027, known as NAFT.27, has issued a formal call for the appointment of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the Director-General of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. This non-governmental think tank has submitted a detailed presentation to the President, outlining compelling reasons for this strategic move.
Grassroots Expertise and National Political Insight
In its submission, NAFT.27 emphasized that Ganduje's extensive experience in grassroots politics and his deep understanding of Nigeria's diverse political landscape make him an ideal candidate. The group highlighted his scholarly background, which provides insights into voting behaviors across both northern and southern regions of the country.
Aliyu Ibrahim, the National Convener of NAFT.27, stated in a released statement that during Ganduje's tenure as APC National Chairman from 2023 to 2025, he successfully oversaw party activities and initiated key projects, such as the establishment of the All Progressives Training Institute in Abuja. Additionally, Ibrahim noted that Ganduje played a pivotal role in encouraging opposition governors to join the APC, showcasing his political acumen and outreach capabilities.
Strategic Campaign Leadership and Regional Balance
The group argued that appointing Ganduje would not only facilitate a seamless campaign drive but also strengthen the APC's winning momentum. They stressed the importance of regional balance in such appointments, referencing Nigeria's long-standing political zoning traditions. With the President hailing from Southern Nigeria, NAFT.27 proposed that the Director-General position, which was held by someone from the North-Central zone in 2023, should now be filled by a representative from the North-West geopolitical zone.
NAFT.27 further asserted that no other political figure in the North possesses the same level of political outreach, sagacity, and influential contacts as Ganduje. They claimed his profile extends across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, making him uniquely qualified to unify support nationwide.
This advocacy builds on NAFT.27's earlier proposal in March 2025, during its inauguration in Abuja, where it first suggested Tinubu's re-election campaign. The group remains committed to promoting strategies that enhance the APC's electoral prospects in the upcoming 2027 elections.
