Obasanjo's 2027 Campaign Team Denounces Provocative Acts at APC National Convention
The media and communications director for Senator Iyabo Obasanjo's campaign organization has strongly condemned what he described as a coordinated and disruptive provocation during the recently concluded All Progressives Congress National Convention in Abuja. Adisa Adejumo stated that these actions were specifically targeted against the governorship aspirations of Senator Iyabo Obasanjo in Ogun State.
Viral Video Reveals Disturbing Scenes
The campaign's response follows the circulation of a viral video on social media platforms showing footage from the convention where individuals allegedly engaged in provocative behavior. According to the campaign team, these individuals were sponsored to cause trouble, chanting insults and deploying loud talking drums around Obasanjo, creating a scene that disrupted the atmosphere of the major political event.
"We find such actions deeply concerning, particularly in a setting that demands unity, maturity and mutual respect among leaders and aspirants," said Adejumo in a statement released by the campaign organization.
Campaign Team Commends Supporters' Restraint
The campaign director praised Obasanjo's supporters for their restraint in not reacting to the provocateurs during the convention. Adejumo emphasized that the leadership of the Iyabo Obasanjo campaign team remains firmly rooted in democratic values based on dignity and discipline, and will not be moved by political provocations.
"While we refrain from engaging in speculation, the visible proximity and apparent inaction of key figures in that camp raise serious questions about leadership responsibility and the tone being set for political engagement in Ogun State," Adejumo added, suggesting possible complicity by political opponents.
Call for Calm and Law-Abiding Conduct
The campaign organization has urged all supporters and loyalists to remain calm and avoid verbal attacks or retaliation. Adejumo stressed the importance of maintaining law-abiding behavior and not allowing negative words or deeds to provoke responses that would compromise their moral values.
"We urge all our supporters to remain calm, law-abiding and focused. Under no circumstances should anyone respond with negativity, abuse, or retaliation," the campaign director emphasized.
Commitment to Issue-Based Politics
Adejumo reiterated the campaign's commitment to issue-based politics centered on policies, people, and progress rather than theatrics or disruption. He stated that the campaign remains focused, resolute, and committed to building a better Ogun State for all residents.
The campaign organization also expressed appreciation to the people of Ogun State who brought the matter to public attention while maintaining their restraint in the face of provocation. This incident highlights the increasingly tense political atmosphere in Ogun State as the 2027 elections approach, with various aspirants positioning themselves for what promises to be a highly contested governorship race.
