Ekiti Guber: PDP Candidate Alleges Voter Intimidation, Slow Accreditation
PDP Candidate Alleges Voter Intimidation in Ekiti Election

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has raised concerns over voter intimidation and a sluggish accreditation process during the ongoing gubernatorial election. Speaking after casting his vote at Osaguru Hall, Unit 6, Ward 3, in Ikere-Ekiti, Oluyede criticized the conduct of security operatives and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Allegations of Intimidation

Oluyede claimed that security deployment was disproportionate and aimed at frightening voters in certain areas. He noted that while only a handful of cameras were present at his polling unit, an excessive number of policemen were harassing voters near the deputy governor's location. He stated that he had documented these incidents on tape and would present evidence at an appropriate time.

Slow Accreditation Process

The PDP candidate expressed frustration over the slow pace of accreditation and voting at his polling unit. He reported that after one and a half hours, only five people had voted. Oluyede questioned the INEC process, suggesting possible irregularities. He also noted that the RATech officer had not arrived despite being called 45 minutes earlier, raising fears of disenfranchisement.
