PDP Aspirant Laja Adeoye Launches Àtuntọ Èkó 1.0 Policy Document for Lagos 2027 Elections

Prince Laja Adeoye, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant for the 2027 elections in Lagos State, has officially unveiled his comprehensive policy document titled Àtuntọ Èkó 1.0, which translates to Re-Engineering Lagos for Inclusive Prosperity. The launch, announced on Friday, April 10, 2026, marks a significant step in Adeoye's campaign, as he positions himself as a challenger to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria's economic hub.

Blueprint for Transformative Governance in Lagos

According to a statement released by Adeoye's team, Àtuntọ Èkó 1.0 serves as a detailed blueprint designed to address the multifaceted challenges facing Lagos State. The document outlines a vision for tackling critical issues such as infrastructure development, economic opportunities, security enhancements, educational reforms, healthcare improvements, and sustainable urban planning. Adeoye emphasized that the initiative aims to re-engineer Lagos into a megacity that all residents can take pride in, moving away from what he described as the current status quo toward more efficient, accountable, and innovative governance.

"The document will be made available to the public and our party as a formal proposal," Adeoye stated. "It highlights our commitment to delivering the transformative and people-centred development that Lagosians truly deserve." He added that the roadmap includes actionable strategies focused on fostering inclusive prosperity across the state, ensuring that growth benefits all segments of society.

Criticism of APC and Pledge for Change

Adeoye, who is also a real estate entrepreneur and Managing Director of Fendini Limited, did not hold back in his criticism of the APC's governance. He asserted that the ruling party has failed in all aspects of government, citing unmet promises and systemic inefficiencies. "My commitment to disrupt the present political order and give Lagosians a better deal in 2027 is unwavering," he declared. Adeoye believes that 2027 represents an appointed time for change in Lagos State, and he has been actively engaging with stakeholders to build support for his ambition.

These stakeholders include PDP local government chairmen, party elders, professionals, and ordinary residents. Adeoye reported that the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with massive support and solidarity from various groups. "We are very impressed with the massive support we have received so far. We strongly believe, with the support of everyone, we will bring about the change Lagosians have been yearning for in 2027," he said, expressing confidence in his campaign's momentum.

Key Policy Promises: Power Supply and Emergency Response

In detailing his plans for a better Lagos, Adeoye highlighted several key areas where he intends to make significant improvements. On the critical issue of electricity supply, he proposed a comprehensive approach to boost power generation and distribution. This includes launching an Independent Power Project (IPP) initiative that incorporates renewable energy farms. Adeoye pledged to establish Independent Power Plants across all five divisions of Lagos State, supported by a dedicated state-owned power grid to ensure reliable and stable electricity for residents and businesses.

Regarding social services and public safety, Adeoye made a firm commitment to strengthen emergency response capabilities. He announced plans to construct fully equipped Emergency Response Centres in all 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State. Each centre will house a fire service station, medical emergency stations, and other essential utilities, aiming to enhance rapid response times and overall community safety.

Additional Initiatives: Housing and Economic Empowerment

Leveraging his expertise in real estate development, Adeoye also addressed the housing crisis in Lagos. He promised to build affordable mass housing in all divisions of the state, making homeownership more accessible to low- and middle-income families. Furthermore, he outlined a deliberate effort to re-integrate economically disadvantaged indigenous people of Lagos who have moved to suburbs or outskirts back into the metropolis. This reintegration will be coupled with job offers and proper placement programs to empower these communities and foster economic inclusion.

Strategic Alliances and Path to Victory

Earlier reports indicated that Adeoye is building strategic alliances to unseat the APC in Lagos State. He mentioned garnering strong backing from groups like the Lagos for Prosperity Group and galvanizing support through the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and other committed organizations. "Through strategic alliances, we are building momentum across youths, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and disillusioned residents," Adeoye explained, underscoring his approach to mobilizing a broad coalition for the 2027 elections.

As the political landscape heats up ahead of 2027, Adeoye's launch of Àtuntọ Èkó 1.0 sets the stage for a competitive race in Lagos State, with promises of transformative governance and a direct challenge to the incumbent APC's record.
