PDP Aspirant Laja Adeoye Details Plan to Oust APC from Lagos in 2027

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant Laja Adeoye has declared his intention to end the All Progressives Congress (APC) dominance in Lagos State. In a statement released on Sunday, March 29, Adeoye asserted that his entry into the race signals the conclusion of APC's prolonged rule, promising transformative leadership centered on education, housing, and economic diversification.

Lagosians Yearn for Change, Says Adeoye

According to Adeoye, residents of Lagos have grown weary of successive APC-led administrations and are actively seeking a new direction. The real estate mogul and managing director of Fendini Limited positioned himself as the embodiment of this fresh start, committed to delivering innovative and people-centered governance. "I am running to offer a credible, formidable alternative rooted in proven delivery and vision. I represent fresh, innovative, and people-centred leadership that the ruling APC has not provided," he emphasized.

Strategic Alliances and Issue-Based Campaign

Adeoye explained his approach to unseating the APC involves building broad-based alliances across stakeholder groups. "Through strategic alliances, like the strong backing from the Lagos for Prosperity Group and galvanising groups like Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), and other committed groups, we are building momentum across youths, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and disillusioned residents," he stated.

His campaign will focus on addressing critical issues such as:

  • Housing shortages
  • Traffic gridlock
  • Unemployment

Adeoye plans to leverage his real estate expertise and entrepreneurial background to provide practical solutions, running a robust grassroots campaign to demonstrate that Lagos deserves accountable governance.

Comprehensive Agenda for Lagos Development

The PDP aspirant outlined a multi-faceted agenda anchored on several key pillars:

  1. Education and Healthcare: Improving access and quality
  2. Security: Enhancing safety measures across the state
  3. Housing: Addressing affordability and availability
  4. Economic Diversification: Reducing reliance on federal allocations

Adeoye promised civil service reform with better reward systems, employment opportunities, and training programs to ensure administrative efficiency.

Economic Revitalization and Job Creation

On economic matters, Adeoye vowed to boost entrepreneurship through support for:

  • Technology hubs
  • Small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
  • Tourism development
  • Ocean economy initiatives
  • Agricultural expansion
  • Industrial clusters

He projected these measures would generate millions of jobs while empowering youths, women, and underserved communities. "I will work with all critical stakeholders such as the business community, the youths, women and traditional institutions to make life better for all Lagos, fostering unity amongst all," Adeoye affirmed.

Infrastructure Modernization and Cost of Living Solutions

The aspirant pledged to modernize transportation systems through expanded rail networks and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services, alongside road construction across Lagos IBILE divisions. To combat rising living costs, Adeoye proposed:

  • Creating sustainable jobs through economic diversification
  • Making housing more affordable to free family incomes
  • Supporting SMEs and informal sectors with finance, training, and market access
  • Reducing import dependency via local agricultural and industrial production
  • Eliminating multiple and duplicate taxation burdens on businesses

Environmental Sustainability and Youth Inclusion

Adeoye committed to implementing sustainable waste management systems, recycling programs, and environmental protection measures to maintain Lagos as a clean, green, and livable city. For youth economic opportunities, his administration would prioritize:

  • Youth and women's inclusion initiatives
  • Access to affordable credit and business training
  • Market linkages and protective regulatory reforms

"Prosperity must be inclusive, and the gain of the FDI will be channelled to create jobs and build capacity for all Lagosians," he concluded.

Endorsement Momentum Builds

The Lagos For Prosperity Group has officially endorsed Adeoye as their preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election. In a statement released on March 22, group representative Kazeem Oshodi described this endorsement as an early but significant development that positions Adeoye as a formidable contender capable of challenging APC dominance in Lagos State.
