A Nigerian pastor identifying as Prophet Osagie Patrick has prophesied that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will withdraw its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 presidential election, specifically between November and the first week of December 2026. In a trending video, the cleric claimed he made a similar prophecy in 2003 regarding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the Anambra governorship election, stating that the PDP would never produce a governor in the southeast state.
Prophet's Claims and Fact-Check
Patrick asserted that the then PDP governor of Anambra, Chris Ngige, spent only 16 days in office before being removed. However, this is false. Ngige served as governor from 2003 to 2005 before a tribunal sacked him, and the Court of Appeal upheld the decision. Since Ngige left office, the PDP has not won the Anambra governorship election, but it has produced federal and state lawmakers, including former Senator Stella Oduah.
Prophecy on Peter Obi's Candidacy
Speaking on Obi's fate, Patrick claimed that the NDC leadership would conspire against its presidential candidate, declare a lack of confidence in him, and drop him as the NDC candidate. He added that Obi would be in court defending his candidature when the 2027 election is held.
Mixed Reactions from Nigerians
The video has generated diverse reactions. Cephas Okarefe prayed that the prophecy would not come to pass, declaring it null and void in the name of Jesus. Oluwamidunsin rebuked the claim, stating that when God reveals, it is for people to stand in the gap, and canceled the prophecy. QuantumVerse accused the NDC national leader of corruption, while Marvellous Israel expressed reservations, questioning why the prophet did not lead his church to pray against the conspiracy.
