Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has recorded a decisive victory at his polling unit during the state's governorship election, demonstrating strong local support in his political stronghold.
Landslide Victory at Ofiyi Square
The incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured an overwhelming majority at Polling Unit 002, located at Ofiyi Square in Isuofia Ward, Aguata Local Government Area. Soludo polled 417 votes in the unit where he cast his own ballot, far outpacing his closest rival.
Nicholas Ukachukwu, the candidate representing the All Progressives Congress (APGA), managed to secure only 4 votes, finishing a distant second in the polling unit. The candidate from ACCORD party received just one vote, according to reports from Premium Times.
Voter Turnout and Accreditation Details
The electoral process at Governor Soludo's polling unit saw significant participation, though not all registered voters exercised their franchise. Out of 933 registered voters in the unit, only 430 individuals were successfully accredited to participate in the election.
The voting process resulted in 422 valid votes being counted, while election officials declared 8 ballots as invalid. The high number of valid votes compared to accredited voters indicates minimal issues with ballot paper marking during the voting process.
Political Significance of the Result
This decisive victory at his home polling unit provides early indication of Governor Soludo's strong grassroots support in his immediate political base. The massive margin of victory, with Soludo securing more than 100 times the votes of his closest challenger, sends a strong message about his local popularity.
The election took place on November 8, 2025, with voters across Anambra State participating in choosing their next governor. Results from individual polling units like this one contribute to the overall picture of voter sentiment across the state.
As the counting continues across Anambra State, political observers will be watching to see if this pattern of strong support for the incumbent governor repeats in other polling units and local government areas.
