Tinubu Urges Ekiti Voters to Re-elect Governor Oyebanji

President Bola Tinubu has praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for demonstrating solid preparedness for leadership that benefits citizens through excellent performance. He urged Ekiti voters to re-elect him in the June 20 governorship poll.

APC Mega Rally in Ado-Ekiti

Tinubu made the appeal during the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in support of Oyebanji's re-election at the Ekitiparapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President applauded Ekiti citizens for standing firmly by the party. He noted that Ekiti is fortunate to have a leader like Oyebanji at this auspicious time.

Tinubu's Remarks on Oyebanji's Performance

Tinubu said Oyebanji has exhibited through actions and policy formulations that leadership is about the people, not oppressing the poor or subverting their rights. He handed over Oyebanji to past governors and first ladies, tasking them to work for victory.

Support from Other APC Leaders

Senate President Godswill Akpabio described Oyebanji as peaceful, humble, and gender-friendly, adding that his performance has resonated nationwide. Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, expressed confidence in victory, citing Oyebanji's popularity. Chairman of the APC Governors' Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said all APC governors stand with Oyebanji due to his organic support.

National Chairman of the party, Prof Nentawe Yilwadta, stated that the party is winning based on the governor's connection to the populace, not just being the ruling party.

Oyebanji's Response

Oyebanji, flanked by his wife Dr Olayemi and deputy Monisade Afuye, said he relies on his superlative performance and fidelity to electioneering promises, not federal might, to triumph.

PDP's Stance

In another development, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Dr Wole Oluyede declared that Oyebanji would be voted out. He made this known during the PDP's grand finale governorship campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, expressing confidence in defeating the incumbent. Oluyede described the election as a freedom fight and urged voters to protect their votes.
