The All Progressives Congress (APC) has established a high-level National Campaign Council for the upcoming Ekiti State Governorship Election, appointing Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, as Chairman of the council. The governor was initially designated for this role by the party on April 24, 2026, in preparation for the election scheduled for June 20, 2026, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Council Composition
The campaign council, unveiled by the APC National Secretariat at Buhari House in Abuja, brings together prominent party leaders, governors, ministers, federal lawmakers, and key political stakeholders from across the country. According to the document signed by APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, will serve as Vice Chairman of the council. Other notable members include Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; and Governors Hope Uzodimma, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Babagana Zulum, Dapo Abiodun, Ahmed Aliyu, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Additional Members and Sub-Committees
Former governors Kayode Fayemi and Yahaya Bello, along with ministers Dele Alake, Sunday Dare, and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, have also been named as members of the council. The APC has further constituted strategic sub-committees on Election Planning and Management, Finance and Resource Mobilisation, Media and Publicity, Security, as well as Women and Youth Mobilisation to coordinate campaign activities ahead of the poll. This comprehensive composition underscores the ruling party's commitment to the Ekiti governorship election and reflects a vote of confidence in Governor Uba Sani's leadership and political mobilisation capabilities.
