Ugochinyere Hosts Abuja Constituents, Presents Scorecard and Future Plans

Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the member representing Ideato Federal Constituency, recently hosted constituents residing in Abuja for an interactive engagement aimed at strengthening ties and presenting his stewardship. The event, organized under the auspices of the Ideato Peoples Assembly, took place at the National Assembly Complex and was themed “An Afternoon with Our Messenger.” It brought together a diverse cross-section of Ideato indigenes living in the Federal Capital Territory, providing a vital platform for direct feedback and open dialogue.

Showcasing Achievements and Legislative Work

Addressing the gathering, Ugochinyere, who chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), showcased his comprehensive scorecard. He highlighted key achievements, including completed and ongoing projects, scholarship schemes, and legislative interventions specifically targeted at improving the welfare of his constituents. The lawmaker reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to delivering more people-oriented projects and sustaining effective representation, emphasizing that his work extends beyond the parliamentary chamber.

According to Ugochinyere, “representation goes beyond the chamber; it is about staying connected to the people and responding to their needs at all times.” He provided detailed updates on efforts already underway and outlined clear timelines for upcoming initiatives, assuring attendees that their concerns remain a top priority. The lawmaker stressed the importance of unity among Ideato people both at home and in the diaspora, noting that sustainable development requires collective effort, trust, and continuous engagement.

They noted that such consistent engagement has significantly strengthened confidence between the people and their representative.

Plans for Expanded Empowerment and Agro-Based Support

Ugochinyere further announced ambitious plans for expanded empowerment programmes, which include:

  • Skills acquisition initiatives to boost local employment
  • Support for small businesses to stimulate economic growth
  • Increased educational interventions for students across the constituency

Speaking on behalf of the Ideato Peoples Assembly, its President, Dr. Vin Igwilo, thanked Ugochinyere for the opportunity to meet and discuss constituency issues. The delegation acknowledged the good work done so far, particularly praising the scholarship and empowerment initiatives, but also made a specific request for support in developing agro-based industries to harness local palm produce resources.

Breaking Historical Second-Term Jinx

The delegation expressed its determination to support Ugochinyere’s potential second term, stating that it was time to break the so-called “jinx” that has historically prevented representatives from Ideato from securing a second tenure. “We will start with Ikenga, and if he wishes, we believe he should be given the mandate for a second term,” they added emphatically.

The gathering concluded with renewed assurances of collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing the progress and unity of Ideato Federal Constituency, marking a significant step in ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between elected officials and their constituents.
