A man who claims to have attended the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) with presidential aspirant Peter Obi and worked with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shared his candid assessment of both leaders. Speaking during a live chat with digital creator Emir Sirdam, the man revealed he was also roommates with former Central Bank of Nigeria governor Godwin Emefiele.
Disappointment with His Generation
The podcast guest expressed anger toward his generation, stating they inherited a favorable Nigeria but left it worse for future generations. He said, "The reason I'm ashamed of my generation is that my generation enjoyed Nigeria so well and instead of leaving Nigeria better, we are leaving Nigeria worse than we met it." He noted that his generation received paid education, scholarships, and guaranteed job opportunities after school. However, they failed to reciprocate for those coming after them, leaving the country in disarray.
Personal Experience with Tinubu and Obi
After graduating, he joined Zenith Bank in 1992 after Emefiele informed him that bankers earned well. He explained, "At that time, Tinubu was the Chief Accountant of Mobil, Emefiele was his account officer, I was working under Emefiele. So, I knew Tinubu one to one." He added, "What I'm going to tell you is that, I not only knew Tinubu very well, I also knew Peter Obi very well."
Verdict on Leadership
Offering his opinion on who would lead Nigeria better, he said, "I've seen both of them clearly and closely and that's the reason I'm telling Nigerians if only you can give Peter Obi a chance. After four years, I swear, if he leaves, you're going to call him back, saying 'Oga, you can't go'. Just the way Alex Otti is doing." He emphasized, "It doesn't take eight years to make an impact." He then discussed Tinubu's impact and Obi's efforts to become the president Nigeria needs.
