Aduda: Wike-Led 'Rainbow Coalition' Poised to Deliver Abuja for Tinubu in 2027
Former Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda, has asserted that the emerging "Rainbow Coalition" under the leadership of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, will mobilize substantial support to ensure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. Aduda made this declaration on Tuesday in Abuja while receiving a delegation of key political stakeholders from across the Area Councils of the FCT, who pledged their allegiance to his political movement known as the "Renewed Hope Ambassadors."
Strategic Defections Strengthen APC's Grassroots in FCT
The delegation, which included the ALGON Chairman in the FCT, current and former vice chairmen, executive members, and council leaders, also met with representatives of the national and zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This meeting formalized their alignment with the ruling party, marking a significant shift in the political landscape of the FCT. Among those present were council chairmen from Kwali, Kuje, and Bwari Area Councils, alongside the FCT Public Complaints Commissioner, Isyaku Yamawo.
Aduda emphasized that their decision to join the APC was driven by growing confidence in President Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda." He noted that recent developments in the FCT have rekindled optimism among residents, addressing long-standing challenges such as delayed civil service promotions and limited grassroots development. According to Aduda, ongoing interventions, particularly under Minister Wike's leadership, are beginning to reverse these trends through infrastructure expansion and rural-focused projects.
Transparency and Inclusion Highlighted as Key Achievements
Aduda further highlighted that the administration has deepened transparency in the political process, ensuring a level playing field for all stakeholders. He pointed out that the APC's control of all six Area Councils reflects increasing public trust in the party. Additionally, Aduda commended President Tinubu for appointing an FCT indigene into the Federal Executive Council, describing this move as a milestone for inclusion and representation.
Regarding his political future, including speculations about a potential Senate comeback, Aduda stated that he would defer to the wishes of the people. "I will listen to the voice of the people, and if that is their wish, so be it," he said, underscoring his commitment to democratic principles.

In his remarks, the FCT ALGON Chairman, Hon. Danladi Chiya, who chairs the Kwali Area Council, described the defection as a strategic alignment with the federal government to unlock more development opportunities for the territory. He maintained that remaining in opposition would have limited the chances of attracting federal attention and resources to the FCT, adding that the decision was taken in the best interest of residents.
Chiya also endorsed Aduda's leadership, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver results. He described Aduda as a tested political figure with a proven track record of attracting appointments and opportunities for FCT indigenes, further solidifying the coalition's credibility.
Defectors Aim to Add Value to Governance and Welfare
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Kuje Area Council Chairman, Abdullahi Sabo, stated that their move was aimed at adding value to governance and supporting efforts to improve the welfare of the people. He assured that the new political alignment would be driven by unity, inclusiveness, and merit-based leadership, emphasizing a collaborative approach to addressing local issues.
