FRCN to Leverage Renewed Hope Housing Scheme for Staff Accommodation
The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has announced a strategic initiative to utilize the federal government's Renewed Hope Housing scheme to provide affordable housing for its workforce. This plan targets the corporation's staff of five thousand employees spread across the country, aiming to enhance their welfare and living conditions.
Strategic Discussions and Development Plans
During a radio program commemorating FRCN's 75th anniversary in Abuja, the Director General, Muhammed Bulama, revealed that the corporation has already initiated discussions with estate developers and construction companies. These talks focus on building houses on plots of land located in Ibadan and Gwagwalada, Abuja. Bulama emphasized that this move is part of a broader effort to align with the current administration's housing policies, ensuring staff have access to cost-effective homes.
Bulama stated, "We want to equally key into the present government's Renewed Hope Housing scheme so that our staff would have affordable homes. This project will significantly improve their welfare, especially as we plan to open a new Medium Wave Radio Station in the Ibadan area."
Commitment to Staff Welfare and Digital Transition
On the topic of staff welfare, Bulama affirmed the corporation's dedication to supporting its employees. He highlighted that with improved budget allocations, FRCN is committed to ensuring workers are well-cared for, enabling them to deliver quality services to Nigerians. "We're trying in terms of staff welfare, and we will not relent on the issue of housing for our staff," he declared.
Additionally, Bulama addressed FRCN's ongoing digital transformation, noting that the corporation will strive to uplift and unite the nation, particularly within Nigeria's democratic framework. "Since we are now going digital, we will do everything possible to continue uplifting the people and uniting the nation, especially in our democratic setting," he explained.
Fair Reporting on Political Parties
Regarding political coverage, Bulama explicitly stated that FRCN has maintained fairness in reporting on all registered political parties in Nigeria. He debunked allegations of bias towards the ruling All People's Congress, asserting, "We give equal rights to these parties operating in the country." This reaffirms the corporation's commitment to impartial journalism and balanced representation in its broadcasts.
Overall, FRCN's housing initiative represents a significant step towards improving employee benefits and aligning with national development goals under the Renewed Hope Housing scheme.
