The Ministry of Steel Development has taken a significant leap into digital governance with the official launch of its Enterprise Content Management System, ECMS, which has now gone live on the national 1-Gov Platform.
A New Digital Era for Steel Development
During the launch event held at the Ministry's Headquarters in Abuja, Minister of Steel Development Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu expressed strong optimism about the system's potential. He revealed that the ECMS was specifically designed to streamline document and information management across all departmental units within the ministry.
The innovative system will enable comprehensive digitization of records, automation of workflows, and secure access to vital information, effectively reducing the ministry's dependence on paper-based processes while significantly improving staff collaboration and operational efficiency.

Minister Audu emphasized the broader significance of this digital transformation, noting that this launch represents more than just technological advancement. In his welcome address, Permanent Secretary Dr. Chris Osa Isokpunwu highlighted that this launch marks the ministry's formal entry into the new era of integrated digital governance championed by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Dr. Isokpunwu explained that the One-Gov initiative represents a landmark reform designed to ensure all government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies operate as one connected system. This integration enables better data sharing, enhanced transparency, and more efficient service delivery across government operations.
The Permanent Secretary characterized the transition as more than just a technological shift, describing it as a strategic opportunity to modernize internal processes, strengthen coordination, and improve how the ministry delivers on its mandate to revitalize Nigeria's steel sector.
He urged all ministry staff to embrace this digital transformation with enthusiasm and commitment to excellence, while also commending the Minister for providing the necessary strategic direction and the ICT team for their dedication in achieving this milestone.
Representing Galaxy Back Bone, Mr. Wumi confirmed that with the implementation of the Enterprise Content Management System on the 1-Gov Platform, the Ministry of Steel Development has successfully automated its Standard Operation Procedures and transitioned from paper-based operations to a largely paperless environment.
