ADC Will Be on Ballot, Says Mark as Court Fixes Friday for Nafiu-Bala Suit
ADC Chairman Mark Assures Ballot Presence Amid Court Case

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has assured party members that the ADC will field candidates capable of winning elections. Speaking on Wednesday at the party's national secretariat in Abuja, Mark addressed members of the Forum of the African Democratic Congress, emphasizing the need for unity and resilience.

Mark's Call for Unity

Mark urged party members to close ranks and avoid factionalization, stating that opponents are using renegades to create one-man factions. He expressed confidence that the party would overcome these challenges and emerge victorious at the polls.

Court Hearing Scheduled

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Friday, May 8, for the hearing of a suit filed by Nafiu-Bala Gombe against Mark and others over the ADC leadership dispute. Hearing notices have been issued to all parties involved, with Justice Emeka Nwite presiding.

The date was set after an application by Gombe's counsel, Luka Haruna, SAN, requesting an accelerated hearing following the Supreme Court's dismissal of Mark's interlocutory appeal on April 30, 2026. The application letter, dated May 5, was addressed to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice Nwite had earlier adjourned the case indefinitely on April 14, pending the Supreme Court's judgment on Mark's appeal. The court declined Mark's request to hear all pending motions, including the substantive case.

Background of the Suit

Gombe, the former National Deputy Chairman of ADC, filed the suit seeking an order to restrain Mark, National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and others from parading themselves as the party's leaders. The case has been marked as FHC/ABJ/1819/2025.

The ADC leadership remains confident that the party will overcome the legal challenges and focus on preparing for upcoming elections with strong candidates.
